First Signs of Spring

My good intentions of practicing my photography skills have already been pushed aside.  Not for the lack of desire.  But for the lack of time to figure out the photo editing portion.

But yesterday, I noticed the first signs of spring are starting to bloom. And it was just too perfect of a day not to take advantage of the gorgeous weather, the bright blue sky and the blooming plum trees in our yard.

This little guy kept turning his butt to the camera every time I pushed the shutter.  Maybe he was trying to tell me something?!

I would really like to figure out how to add layered textures to my pictures. I think it would help cover the lack of skill I have with my point and shoot photography.

Maybe I should just focus on getting the actual editing down to a reasonable time, without my cheat sheets first!

'Till then...............I hope you have a wonderful, bloomin' day!

Oh Wow! Gorgeous Pictures! You are so very way ahead of me. I'm afraid my skills are so lacking. Sometimes I get a good photo, sometimes I don't. It just depends on how my camera feels that day!

I stopped by to visit your workdesk, belated I know, and these photos caught my eye straight away. They are absolutely stunning. How beautiful to see plum blossom already, we won't have it until May in the UK and are only just getting our first few flowers after the winter. That bee looks like it's enjoying a fine feast.

These are beautiful. Reminds me of my neighbor's cherry blossom tree. The photos do not need a texture, but if you want to play, do the following:
-Open a photo
-Open a texture
-Resize both the photos to match (I usually do 1200x800 pixels for each)
-Copy the texture, then paste onto your photo, or if your program lets you, simply drag on top of your photo
-Play with blending modes. The ones I use most are Multiply, Overlay, and Soft Light.
-Adjust the opacity to your taste

If the texture is interfering with parts of your photo, there are a couple of ways to go about that, some rather detailed. There are many tutorials online to help.

Good luck!

Beautiful. I am so anxious for our trees to bloom. We have awhile yet here in Kentucky. Hope we have a beautiful spring. We deserve it after our LONG, COLD winter.
