Trying to Remember How to Use My Camera

Hey Peoples!! I hope that you are having a fabulous weekend!!  My house has been FULL TO THE BRIM with male testosterone this weekend.  At one point yesterday, I had 5 boys between the ages of 10 and 14, and technically, a 43 year old, but I think he was doing pretty good at channeling his inner 14 year old!!  I'm down to four boys currently, but the testosterone is still running strong!!

Needless to say, I escaped to my little back office and hid!! LOL!! Actually, the boys really aren't that bad. They pretty much entertain themselves with war games on the Xbox or shooting at each other with nerf guns.  I will find those nerf bullets for the next month in all the nooks and crannies of my house, I'm sure! That is, if I just happen to clean in the nooks and crannies versus giving them a glance to make sure there are no obvious cobwebs visible!

While back in my little cave, I started looking at some photos on my computer.  At one point in time, I really enjoyed taking photographs.  I think I need to  put a new, higher end camera on my birthday/Christmas wish list this year.  Along with a higher end photo editing program.  But in the interim, I will have to do with my little point and shoot and the freebie Picassa program that I use to edit.  Actually, it is the oldest kid's point and shoot.  How sad is it that my kids have more electronic toys than I do?! Something is soooo wrong with that scenario!

I thought that today I would share a few photos taken in early August on a family hike.

playing around with the basic filtering program on Picassa.  Yep.  I need a higher end editing program!

I'm actually standing on a log in a little stream to get this photo.  I seriously could have stood here all day listening to the water and taking in this view

I don't know why I love photos of the backside of my kids so much.  Maybe because they are unaware of the camera and there is no "posing".

sigh.
I was really hoping for a "Christmas Card" moment here.  Instead I got two other cameras beside me trying to get the same moment.  And only the dog looking straight.  Actually, this is a good example of why I like backside pictures.  No forced poses.  No forced smiles.  No "arewedoneyet" looks.

I really need to consider mini albums of these trips.  Not scrap booking.  Did that.  Kinda.  For a year, when the big lug of a kid in the above photo was between the ages of 2 and 3.  I was obviously behind chronicling his life's journey before I began.  And it would seem that things have not gotten any better in that area. The youngest kiddo has a two page layout in his scrap book.  Siiiiiiigh. But maybe mini albums wouldn't seem so overwhelming.

Thanks for dropping by again today!  I'm off to concur the dishes from the waffle breakfast this am.  So I can get the kitchen cleaned up just in time for lunch.  I need a kitchen staff with all these boys.  And a MUCH larger refrigerator.

Enjoy the rest of your day.  Remember to put some type of creativity into your day!!

Wonderful pictures! You did a great job. I have one grandson that the only pictures of him are from the back. He doesn't stand still long enough for me to snap a picture. Hope you are doing well; all is well here in Tennessee!

Those are great pictures--especially for just a point and click! And I really miss the CA hiking. I'm there with you on the higher end camera on my wishlist for Christmas too. It's been on my list for several years but with Kai being in school the last 4 years... Maybe this year will be the lucky year!! Hee hee. I cannot believe how old #1 is getting!! He looks like an actual teenager!!! Gasp! Where is the time going???
