Hey there People!!
Seems like it has been longer than a week since I've posted last! Ok. Technically, it has been longer than a week. But, I rounded off a couple of days. I hate straggling days!! In that time, the Kiddo's have started their summer vacation, which so far, seems to be just as busy as if they were in school. The Oldest Kiddo has spent a few morning's working as a TA for the science teacher. Which means he spent his days cleaning out the lab and getting things somewhat ready for the next school year. Then there are the daily practices for the kickoff of summer league basketball. Add in a couple of days of work for me and the week is gone!! It would appear that the lazy days of summer that I remember in my youth are no more!!
Today, I FINALLY took the leap off the cliff and started a project that I signed up for several weeks ago. It is a mixed media canvas class taught by Louise Williams of paperscissorschocolate.com. I don't know why it has taken me so long to get started. I think I'm afraid that I won't like the outcome.
Or worse. Find out that I rather stink at this type of art.
And so what if I don't like the outcome? Or find out that this type of art form is not in my area of talent?! This is suppose to get my creativity flowing in a different way. There is no rule that says I have to show the final product! Who knows?! I may end up doing several canvases before I finally like one!! Or I may just chuck the whole process, take bits and pieces of what I learn and apply it elsewhere.
Ahhhh. I REALLY hope that my fragile ego can accept those words when it comes down to the final dab of paint!! I will need to remind myself that I have not done anything like this type of art for close to30 years since my first year in college. Has it really been close to 30 years?! How can that be?! I haven't gotten that much older!!
Anyhoos!! Here is a peek at what I did today. Enjoy it! It might be the last you see of this project, LOL!!

I'm already wishing I had put more Gesso on the papers....LOL! It will be interesting to see what the final outcome of this turns out to be!!
'Till next time................try something new in your creating. Even if it is something that you keep to yourself. Just be sure to take one lesson learned from the trial and apply it to something else!!

Starla, I happen to love what you did.. love the rounded forms against the rectilinear ones, the contrasting red and orangish colors, the whitewash over all.. nicely done you!!

Can't wait to see the finish of this project, Starla! As for finishing, it will come if it is meant too, I agree you are too hard on yourself. Life is so short, just enjoy yourself and the learning experience before everything passes you by! Have a wonderful day!

But seriously, so far all your projects have been gorgeous and top notch including this . I can't wait to see what you'll do next.
Oh and about the posting.... yup, time gets away from me too.
